OpenHouse Jan 30

Hello Friends,

Come and join us at OPEN-HOUSE on Sunday, 30th January from 2 pm - 4 pm in the ‘Lounge’ at Emmanuel Church Centre, 43 Forest Road.Your hosts will be Clive and Judith Hilton, plus several other lovely volunteers. Bring a friend with you - OPEN-HOUSE is especially for overseas visitors to L’boro.

Our friends from the east are looking forward to the The Year of the Rabbit which begins on 3rd February, and OPEN-HOUSE will celebrate with a bring-and-share party on Sunday, 6th February. What food will you bring? More importantly – who will you bring? We have small Invitation cards which you can give to other overseas visitors to Loughborough. We welcome students, academics and employees, families or singles, children and adults – those for whom this is a ‘foreign’ land!

OPEN-HOUSE has been in existence for very many years, and during that time countless people have established lasting friendships here – people from Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa – from many different cultures and nations. We continue to contact many of our international friends by email and letter and, as you know, we have two websites addresses (which Kuniko manages for us). However, for a long time now our friends in the P. R. China have been unable to access the websites because, sadly, their government is blocking them. Why? I do not know. OPEN-HOUSE establishes friendship between people of all nationalities, and the websites carry the photograph album of happy memories, together with general information and our weekly e-mail letter. If any of you can suggest ways by which we can overcome this problem, then please tell us!

May you all know God’s blessing,

Clive

'Bring-and-Share'

Several people have asked what 'Bring-and-Share' means; it is a very popular concept in the UK. We all like to ask our friends to a party or meal – and we all like going to meals and parties. But that can be time-consuming and expensive. So, we have 'Bring-and-Share' parties and meals where the host/hostess provides the venue and basics - and the guests provide everything else.

Whenever you are invited to a 'Bring-and-Share' party, meal, the idea is that every guest brings something to eat and drink - and it all goes on a table to be shared with everybody else. So, if everybody brings something different, then we all enjoy an interesting meal together.
