Sunday 3rd June 2012

Hello Friends,

Many of you are busy revising and studying for exams, but do include some recreation into your lives. Come with us on Saturday for the WALK – the fresh air and exercise will sharpen you up mentally and make studying much easier!

Join us for the Crumpet Hunt Walk on Saturday, 2nd June. Meet 10.15 am at the junction of Pantain Road and Hill Top Road (LE11 3LW). We’ll walk through the woods to the top of Beacon Hill, where we shall enjoy a picnic. We may then hunt for wild crumpets near the old windmill before strolling down to the village of Woodhouse Eaves for more refreshments. Wear sturdy shoes, and clothes suitable for sun or rain. Bring some food and something to drink, and a camera to capture the superb views (bring a kite if you have one). Tel: 01509 561013 for more information.

Join us next Sunday afternoon, 27th May, from 2.30 pm until 4.30 pm in the ‘Lounge’ @ Emmanuel Church Centre, 43 Forest Road. Your hosts will be Guy, Kevin and Becky – with other volunteers. Bring a friend with you ~ OPEN-HOUSE International Café is especially for overseas visitors to L’boro (students, academics, employees, married or single, children and adults); those for whom the U.K. is a ‘foreign’ land!

Also on Sunday 3rd, you are invited to the International Tea @ John Storer House – it’s a ‘Bring-n-Share’ meal, followed by stimulating talk. Everybody is welcome - from 5 pm to 7 pm. More info at http://sfellowship.org

Monday, 4th June is a public holiday. It is also ‘Matsuri Day 2012’, organised by University + Charnwood Arts + the Japanese community - in Queen’s Park. You will find more details at https://www.facebook.com/matsuriday2012.

Tuesday 5th June is also a public holiday, to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Come and celebrate with a ‘PICNIC IN THE PARK’ – bring your picnic for a fun, international event in Queen’s Park – from noon till 5 pm. Music, rides, dance, art, sport, food

A group of Open-Housers provided a dramatic reading at last Sunday’s Pentecost Service – see the attached picture. We’re looking forward to the Baptisms @ Emmanuel on Sunday, 10th June.

May you all experience God’s wonderful blessing,

Clive
