Welcome to the Open House weekly news mail. During the New Year’s Day walk we pointed out that the war memorial (carillon tower) in Loughborough’s Queens Park houses a war museum which is open to the public in the summer months.  You can find details of the opening hours and admission charge on this web page:-

May we remind you that we are holding another walk this coming Saturday 30 January but you MUST advise John Begin john@mailstar.org if you are coming along because we cannot guarantee to have enough transport available if you just turn up  on the day.

OPEN-HOUSE WALK
When? Saturday, January 30th.
Where? Bradgate Park http://www.bradgatepark.org/
Bradgate Park is the ancestral home of the Grey family. Most famous was Lady Jane Grey who was Queen of England for just nine days!!! Her cousin, Mary (Queen of Scots) imprisoned Jane and her husband and tried them for high treason. They were later executed by being beheaded. Jane, a devout Christian, was just 16 years old!

Meet at Emmanuel Church car park at 11:00. We shall return by 16:00 (4pm).
Wear warm clothes and strong shoes.
Bring an umbrella and maybe a raincoat.
Bring your lunch and drinks (The Park Cafe is open 10.30 am until 4 pm)
Bring your camera! You will take home many memories of a beautiful park.

DO YOU HAVE A CAR? Do you have extra seats to bring passengers? Please let John Begin know.

COST? Entry into the Park is free, but it costs £4.00 per car for parking. It also costs the driver for fuel. So, please be prepared to pay £2.00 per adult to your driver.
