Thankyou to everyone who made last Sunday’s meal such a happy occasion – this week we meet in the Emmanuel Centre as normal – aah, but what is ‘normal’ ??

Today, Thursday, 20th October, is the FREE lunchtime CONCERTS at Emmanuel Church, Forest Road Loughborough, LE11 3NW. Sam Rodwell will be playing classical guitar. The concert begins at 12.45 pm prompt and you can enjoy a light lunch of homemade soup and a bread-roll from noon. Information leaflets about the whole series of lunchtime concerts are available at Emmanuel information desk - collect one when you come to OPEN-HOUSE.

This Saturday, 22nd October, we are going on a local AUTUMN WALK – meet at Hill Top Towers, LE11 3LW at 9.45 am - back by about 4 pm. Cost is NIL but wear sturdy shoes (it might be muddy) and waterproof top (it may rain!) – and bring a snack to eat, something to drink, a camera, plastic bag (to sit on) – and an umbrella !!! NOTICE for parents for parents with children of Primary School age. There will be a ‘LIGHT PARTY’ on Monday 31st October, from 5 pm until 6.30pm (1700-1830) at the Emmanuel Centre. If you would like your child to attend, then contact Christine (christine@emmanuel-loughborough.org) by Monday 24th to book a place. It will be great fun for all the children.

British-Summer-Time ends next weekend – watch this space for information of clock changes!!


The Loogabarooga Festival comes to Loughborough on 19th – 24th October, and celebrates Children’s literature and associated illustrations. It is very child friendly but of interest to adults too.

The programme will include free creative drop-in workshops, storytelling sessions, advice on how to write and illustrate your own book, with appearances from some of the nation’s favourite children’s authors and illustrators including Harry Potter illustrator, Jim Kay. Created from the bestselling ‘The Dinosaur That Pooped’ picture book series, host Alastair Watson bring the books to life with help from the dinosaur himself! An interactive, fun event that includes dinosaur impressions, live drawing, a dinosaur rhyme and gross games like ‘Guess Poo’, it’s perfect for entertaining children aged 5+. All the activities of OPEN-HOUSE are open to people from every nation in the world ~ we welcome overseas visitors of all races, languages, ages, faiths and cultures ~ no-one need feel excluded. We speak in everyday English so that everyone can understand everyone else. You are welcome to come to our social activities every Sunday afternoon, to walks and days out on Saturdays, and to meals and other events during the week.
