Loughborough Fair is in town from now until Saturday night. Please be very careful not to have any valuable items or money in your outside pockets if you are visiting the fair, as it is known for thieves to operate in the busy crowded atmosphere. On 24th November the Emmanuel Lunchtime concert will feature a cello recital by Richard May. This concert is free. You can also enjoy a pre-concert soup and roll lunch for a small charge in the Emmanuel Church Centre. Lunches are served from 12-00 Noon and the concert commences at 12-45 pm with a duration of approximately 50 minutes. A reminder that on Saturday 5th November Loughborough University Students Union will be holding their annual firework display and light show on the University Campus, Epinal Way, Loughborough. The Royal British Legion and Hathern Band are holding a Poppy Concert on 5th November at Emmanuel Church Loughborough to raise money for their appeal. Good News!   This Sunday 6th we are back in the Emmanuel Church Centre (our normal venue) for our OPEN-HOUSE meeting in our usual café style environment and with full crèche facilities.   We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
 
Also on Sunday 6th, (after OPEN-HOUSE finishes) you are invited to an International Tea @ John Storer House.   It’s a ‘Bring-n-Share’ meal followed by an interesting talk.   Everybody is welcome – 5 pm to 7 pm – bring a friend (and some food!).

You will have received a separate e-mail about Loughborough’s Annual Town Fair which takes over the town centre from next Wednesday until Saturday ..... have fun!

When you go to bed this Saturday, turn your clocks and watches BACK by one hour – you will then wake up on Sunday to British Winter Time !!

This Sunday, 30 October, we meet in the Emmanuel Church HALL, 45 Forest Road, as the Church Centre is being used to cater for a bereavement service. This is for one week only. We will return to the Church Centre next week. Our normal activities will still be catered for and we will still meet in an informal café style atmosphere.

Thankyou to everyone who made last Sunday’s meal such a happy occasion – this week we meet in the Emmanuel Centre as normal – aah, but what is ‘normal’ ??

Today, Thursday, 20th October, is the FREE lunchtime CONCERTS at Emmanuel Church, Forest Road Loughborough, LE11 3NW. Sam Rodwell will be playing classical guitar. The concert begins at 12.45 pm prompt and you can enjoy a light lunch of homemade soup and a bread-roll from noon. Information leaflets about the whole series of lunchtime concerts are available at Emmanuel information desk - collect one when you come to OPEN-HOUSE.

This Saturday, 22nd October, we are going on a local AUTUMN WALK – meet at Hill Top Towers, LE11 3LW at 9.45 am - back by about 4 pm. Cost is NIL but wear sturdy shoes (it might be muddy) and waterproof top (it may rain!) – and bring a snack to eat, something to drink, a camera, plastic bag (to sit on) – and an umbrella !!! More information from Clive and Judith.

NOTICE for parents for parents with children of Primary School age. There will be a ‘LIGHT PARTY’ on Monday 31st October, from 5 pm until 6.30pm (1700-1830) at the Emmanuel Centre. If you would like your child to attend, then contact Christine (christine@emmanuel-loughborough.org) by Monday 24th to book a place. It will be great fun for all the children.

British-Summer-Time ends next weekend – watch this space for information of clock changes!!


The Loogabarooga Festival comes to Loughborough on 19th – 24th October, and celebrates Children’s literature and associated illustrations. It is very child friendly but of interest to adults too.

The programme will include free creative drop-in workshops, storytelling sessions, advice on how to write and illustrate your own book, with appearances from some of the nation’s favourite children’s authors and illustrators including Harry Potter illustrator, Jim Kay. Created from the bestselling ‘The Dinosaur That Pooped’ picture book series, host Alastair Watson bring the books to life with help from the dinosaur himself! An interactive, fun event that includes dinosaur impressions, live drawing, a dinosaur rhyme and gross games like ‘Guess Poo’, it’s perfect for entertaining children aged 5+. This Sunday, 16th October, we meet as normal in the Emmanuel Church Centre at 2.30 pm. We will be having a ‘Bring-and-Share’ MEAL together so please bring along some food to share. If you can bring something typical of the cuisine for your own particular country that would be wonderful, but if not then just bring something else to share. The main thing is to just come along and enjoy the good international friendshipand bring a friend!

Next Thursday, 20th October, is the first of the new season of FREE lunchtime CONCERTS at Emmanuel Church, Forest Road Loughborough, LE11 3NW. Sam Rodwell will be playing classical guitar.
